The BetterSpot VPN Router
- Secure your Internet Traffic
- Access geo-restricted websites
- Private Internet browsing
- Bypass Internet censorship
This is a router with the ability to connect to the Internet in 3 different modes, directly, using the TOR network or via a VPN server. The shield on the top of the router changes colour to indicate the current mode or if the router has an issue, no connection or update available.
Using an App (Android or iOS) you can select your connection type (Direct, TOR, VPN). The physical connection to the network can be made via an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi connection.
This is a great idea as it allow you to secure your internet traffic when using public access points, it also means you can get access to geo-restricted sites when travelling (BBC iPlayer, etc) and bypass internet restrictions/censorship imposed in some areas.
The device will connect to the Internet via its Wi-Fi connection or via a direct connection using an Ethernet cable.
You connect to the device via its own Wi-Fi network or via a direct connection using an Ethernet cable.
At present I have encountered a couple of problems.
- I have had to reset the device a couple of times, as the Wi-Fi network hasn’t been available.
- I have also had a problem connected to the Internet when login details have been required.
The product is still developing, so firmware updates will resolve these little issues.
In the past I have travelled with a TOR router built using a Raspberry Pi, it is a cheap solution that can be made a home, but now the BetterSpot is available I would recommend this device, it is a neater package with more features.
